Thread: Search Syntax Help

  1. #1

    Default Search Syntax Help

I can't find help information on the syntax (grammar) to use in searching for auctions. I would expect it to be on the FAQ pages some where, but I don't see it. (Old time computer nerds like me use the word "syntax" to mean the grammar that is used in computer commands. I am talking about the way to specify complex searches with conditions such as AND, OR, "text strings", etc.)

Is it like eBay or Google?

    Thanks very much,
    Lloyd

Like, but not identical to. Part of the trouble is that they are constantly tweaking to produce better results - but there are still a few issues with special characters, punctuation etc. As an old computer nerd you've a better chance than most of working it out.

eBid's search engine is rather weak and hopefully will be vastly improved when the new look site rolls out.

The information you are looking for in its current incarnation is at: http://uk.ebid.net/help_bid.php#1

Thanks Mel! And thanks for the knowledge base links. I think Kimbo meant to say that it is like eBay.
