Thread: Xbox 360 RROD - Again!

  1. #1

    Thumbs down Xbox 360 RROD - Again!

    Now I am not a happy bunny.

    Last week my Xbox 360 Elite (the black one with the 120gig HDD) turned up its toes and showed the Red Ring Of Death. Never mind, I thought, I have a backup unit and just need to swap the HDDs. So I did and everything was fine. Until this morning when that one died, too. Yep, two different Xbox 360's, bought at different times, used widely differing amounts, one fitted with the external fan kit, and BOTH died within the same flippin' week!

    I reckon they looked at the stack of games I just got for Xmas and decided to run away.

    So that's £140 I've just spent to get another one by 1pm tomorrow (supposedly).

    All electronic equipment actually runs on blue smoke under pressure and not on electricity. This blue smoke is contained within the components. Each piece of equipment also has a special timer chip which is set to activate one day after the warranty expires. This timer chip then counts down for a random period of time and then signals one of the components to open and release the blue smoke from the system.

    This is why stuff 'fails' with a puff of blue smoke just after the warranty no longer exists.

    You may have noticed shops zapping boxes when you buy them. You are led to believe that this is to disable anti-theft devices. What they are actually doing is activating the timer chip.

    That's just bad luck, Murphy's Law, Karma, call it what you will. Of course, the common factor is the hard drive so one does wonder...

    No, the common factor is M$oft's cr@p manufacturing. It's a well known problem with Xbox 360's and even some original Xbox's that the heating and cooling cycles cause separation of internal connections thus causing the faults.

    Turn on = heat up.
    Turn of = cooling down.
    Heat = expansion.
    Cooling = shrinkage.

    Do that enough and cracks will begin to appear.

    Modern tech should stop such things happening,,but it don't.

    Music.
    Plato says when the music of a society changes, the whole society will
    change.
    Aristotle, a contemporary of Plato's, says when music changes there should be laws to govern the nature and the character of that music.
    Lenin says that the best and the quickest way to undermine any society is through its music!

    Say It As You See It.

    Funny how neither the PS3 or the WII have a reputation for such faults (although a few units will fail, no doubt) despite the fact that people are playing the same games on those consoles as the Xbox 360.

    I have to agree, although there has been a spate of original PS3s breaking due to a similar fault lately I doubt it has been anything like the same numbers as the XBox 360. Difficult to gauge exact figures from forums alone.

    The PS3 is going from strength to strength, developers who've bothered to put time and effort into utilising the hardware properly are producing some mind-blowing games now and there's better to come yet I'm sure. XBox 360, using the same technology, has probably already reached it's zenith in terms of capability.

    The latest slimline PS3 uses newer technology so should be more reliable, it certainly generates less heat and uses less power than the original design. Surprised that Microsoft have not bothered to smarten up the XBox 360 (or have they?) into a new slimmer package.
