Thread: Record collector book

  1. #1

    Default Record collector book

How often does it get released?

Been looking on the river and see that the latest one is 2010 which was released Dec 08,

Is it every 2 or 3 or just random?

    Hi guys

Officially 'The RC Bible' is released every two years - next issue should be available in late September of this year.

Thanks. I'll be looking on the river in Sept / Oct.

Is there much difference normally in the content?

    Hi Sarah

Sorry for the delay in replying to your 'content' question.

I find that the book tends to change a bit but not a lot - for example, quite of few of the current issues listings and prices resemble the 2006 edition and I am therefore assuming that the next edition will re-introduce the listings from 2008. There are obviously exceptions to the rule and you will find many records from the 1960s are in every edition at round about the same price. one notable addition in the next book will be Michael Jackson whose back catalogue has become sought after however this phase will pass and many of his listings in the next book disappear in 2 years time - this is one example and I'm sure there will be many more.

Sorry if I've bored you all to tears.

Thanks, that makes sense, most records that I acquire are from 60's & 70's, I'll hold back the batch of Jacko ones till new book arrives. But the usual applies though as in what the book says and what the buyer is willing to pay are 2 totally separate things.

Spot on there Sarah - I've got pennies for a record that's 'booked at' £20 and £20 for something that's not even listed - as with all auctions you need at least 2 people who want what you're selling and then they dictate the price despite what a book says.
