If you cross the Chinese border illegally you may never be heard from again.

If you cross the Venezuelan border illegally you will be branded a spy and your fate will be sealed.

If you cross the Cuban border illegally you will be thrown into political prison to rot.

If you cross the United States border illegally you get:

A JOB,
A DRIVERS LICENSE,
SOCIAL SECURITY CARD,
WELFARE,
FOOD STAMPS,
CREDIT CARDS,
SUBSIDIZED RENT OR A LOAN TO BUY A HOUSE,
FREE EDUCATION,
FREE HEALTH CARE,
A LOBBYIST IN WASHINGTON
BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF PUBLIC DOCUMENTS PRINTED IN YOUR LANGUAGE
THE RIGHT TO CARRY YOUR COUNTRY'S FLAG WHILE YOU PROTEST THAT YOU DON'T GET ENOUGH RESPECT
AND, IN MANY INSTANCES, YOU CAN VOTE.

I just wanted to make sure I had a firm grasp on the situation.

No. Not only in America. Sounds pretty much like the UK also.

If I ever fell on hard times I would go to France, burn my passport and smuggle myself back into the UK and then claim everything that was going - which would be more than I could get as a UK citizen.

I would seriously think of doing what Astral suggests, only despite having lived in England for 50 years, was born here and only left the UK once for a day trip to France with my school when I was 12, I don't qualify for a a British passport.

I don't have the correct paperwork to enable me to get a British driver's license, nor can I get a grant to pay for University.

Almost makes me wonder if a mass influx of say 1 million US citizens crossed over the border into Mexico, would they feed us, house us, give us money and healthcare...I don't theeeeenk so!

Yes.....that is what I say each time I'm turned down...oh well.

I'm not now well enough to travel overseas and am medically unfit to drive, and what with running my business and doing all the political stuff...I don't have time to go to university...so don't feel the need to find the 'right' paperwork
