Trouble with these policies is that they will say anything to get in.

Think I'll run in 5 years time and offer free houses, free ice cream and a lottery win each and every month, for all people living on less than 3 million a year.

Would you vote for me then?

Before anyone considers voting for Labour, investigate how closely communism & socialism are linked (try looking on wikipedia). And Liberalism is not much different really. As for the BNP I think the reason that some people vote for them (apart from the obvious racists) is because there's a lot of half-truths in what they say & they word things carefully so that people say "yeah, that's right actually". Take immigration, must people would agree that it has got out of hand, but that doesn't mean they hate immigrants.

I really don't care who gets in as long as Labour is removed from power. New Labour was the worst thing to happen to this country for a very long time. Unfortunately the damage they have done is unlikely to be rectified as whoever replaces them will be too busy implementing their own policies to dismantle Labours.

When I receive election campaign leaflets in the post, I put them straight into 'recycling'. If any election hopeful candidate calls, I send them away with a MYOB message.
I will most certainly exercise my right to vote, but my decision on who to vote for will not be influenced by TV, campaigning, Poll results, or election promises - it will be based on my own analysis of the economic outlook and the measures required to engender a gradual improvement to the benefit of all of the UK. Anyone with a sensible outlook will realise that we have to 'bite the bullet' for a while, and should be prepared to do so.
The problem is that a lot of people tend to put their self-interest first and subscribe to the 'I'm all right Jack' principle - in particular I refer to 'big businesses' and the wealthy so-called elite - those who have no concerns for others who may be elderly, disabled, disenfranchised, or needy. Being always at the 'bottom of the heap' is a depressing outlook that many have to suffer with no chance or opportunity to better themselves, and although that situation may well be a fact of life in society, nevertheless it is a crying shame that it should even exist in a 21st century democracy.
So who do I vote for? - have a guess!

The most important thing is that you vote, people died that so that we could so it is really our responsibility to do so. Having said that, if you're going to vote, don't waste it on a small insignificant party.

Not quite correct. People gave their lives in order to give you the right to vote - not for voting to be compulsory.

To have the true right you must also have the right not to exercise that right (does that make sense?).

You must also have the right to 'waste' (in the view of others) your vote.

I didn't say you had to vote, I said it was your responsibility to do so. I am sure the people who fought & died didn't feel that it was so that their descendants could just sit back & not bother to vote. Its interested how in countries like Iraq people are prepared to risk their lives to vote, but here where its easy, people can't be bothered.
