The only history the RSPCA had was he was found on a dual carriage way and nearly eaten by a cat. No chip and no one came forward for him. I (or should I say our family) has adopted many budgies and they phone us to see if we can adopt another one.

This time we could but had to wait 7 days as they come under the same rules as other animals classed as strays.

The RSPCA around here will not let you adopt a bird, unless you put it in an avary.

Even if it has been hand tamed and used to living in a house.

That's why 3 years ago, we went to a breeder for Riley, and didn't have one of the 30 birds, they had in rescue.

Ours 'prefers' you to have an aviary, but they also allow people to adopt with cages as long as the owner can exercise the bird.

Normally when they do a random visit at least 1 bird is flying about or out it's cage.

Sadly this is our only 1 at the moment, but they don't get that many as it's only a tiny branch and most birds get taken to a larger branch by the public which is miles away from me.

Budgies are great at waking you up at sunrise
