    Default Old pictures.

I was clearing out the wardrobe a few days ago, and came across a huge amount of old photos.

All of my family~ it was amazing the memories it stirred up. Things I had forgotten.

Daughter loved looking too, as she has all pictures on computer, but going thro that old box, as like opening up family history for her.

Even the old yellowed ones had an air of mystery to them.

    Great things to treasure.

Its amazing how many get thrown away, have tried with Family photos to name them on the back otherwise the next generation will never no who they were,
Also when auctionhouses do house clearences its sometimes sad to see these photos, where no one knows who they are.

EXACTLY my thoughts. It's so important to write on the back who is who, and in legible handwriting. And it's so sad to go to a garage sale or estate sale and see old photos for sale. It's like consigning the poeple in them to the trash almost. I realize some people are more tidy than I am and run minimalist households but for pity's sake, a few FLAT pieces of paper recording your ancestors don't take up much room in the scheme of things.

I'm sorting loads of old photos and the ones with no identities drive me crazy! The last person who could have put a name onto them died in November.

Good point~ glad I posted ~ or I would never of thought to do that.

It would make a lovely family tree, with the pictures and names on a big chart.

But i'll never get arlound to doing that~ took me long enough to get thro the wardrobe.

I'm the family historian in my bunch and old family photos are like gold to me. Most of Mom and Dad's pictures have been scanned and I know who 99% of the people are in those photos. I don't think that anyone else in the family cares one way or another right now, but down the road the stories and photos that I've collected will be there if one of the great nephews or nieces is interested. (I have no children of my own.) Right now though, it's important to me and that is all that matters.

One thing I'm adding to the records is a picture, usually found using google, of the church where each wedding took place
