Thread: Sky vs Virgin

  1. #1

    Default Sky vs Virgin

At the moment, I have my broadband and telephone with Virgin.

My satellite is with Sky. I have the complete package including all the movie and sports channels.
I am getting a bit fed up with the pixelating when weather gets bad etc tho.

Am considering moving my entire package to Virgin. At least cable doesnt get affected by heavy clouds etc.

This has become a more attractive prospect now that BSB have bought Virgin Television. Means that Virgin will be showing Sky movies and sports and SKY1 etc.

Just spoke to Virgin about moving my entire package to them - quote is £85.00 a month for everything including V+ box (similar to SKY+), Sky movies and sports channels, broadband, and telephone.

Anyone else have the V+ box - is it as good as Sky+?

We have the V+Box HD. which we love, and when we want to
record something, dont have to mess about with times, Channels etc just press the button, Brilliant. We moved from Sky some years ago now, because of the Broadband and Telephone, later added the TV.
updated to HD a while back. costs us about £53.00 a month inc the phone calls.

Does that include the Sky premium channels - Sky movies and all the sky sports channels?

No, not the Movies or Sports, Taken this from the bill.
    Line Rental £11.00
    Talk Evening & Weekend £3.45
Phone, TV & BB Bundle Saving -£9.50 credit
    TV size XL £23.00
    Broadband Size, M £20.00
    ---------
    46.95
Credit for Paperless Billing -£1.00 credit
Then telephone calls on that & VAT

    Usually totals about £53.00 ish.

We used to have the Movies, but once you have watched the ones you like, they go round for about 3 months. we did not watch them anymore, so had it taken off. Hubby says he isnot so bothered about the sport these days, watches Santander or what ever its called.
sometimes, hes usually on his XBOX360 killing zombies, or football

Have had a V+ box for a few years now (and recently upgraded to a V+ HD box) with all Sports, Movies etc. and in terms of the delivered service I have been really impressed. I haven't got a bill to hand but £85 all in sounds about right (doesn't include the nuddy channels though ).

In terms of features I'm not sure how it stacks up against a Sky+ box but you get 80 hours of recording time and loads in the way of catch up TV/TV choice on demand/pay-per-view movies etc. Again, absolutely no complaints on that side of things.

It's a good job the delivered service is so reliable though because the customer service is absolute garbage (in my experience)...and that's putting it mildly.

The TV choice on demand and catch up are brilliant. Sky do not offer that.

Been with virgin for ages have got the v/hd box much better than sky you can record two and watch a third at same time+ plus all the rest others have mentioned, we have the lot sports movies etc bill normally between £75 &£85 includes telephone and broadband.

We did go to change over to sky but the salesman told us lies so we cancelled and stayed with virgin, and like you say no problems with the weather affecting the service.

P.S. Your still not gonna see Scotland in the world cup even if ya do change over
