Scam emails

This piece of illiterate muck from the low-life scam merchants arrived in my Inbox yesterday:

OFFICIALLY INFORM YOU THAT WE HAVE VERIFIED YOUR CONTRACT /INHERITANCE FILE ANDFOUND OUT THATWHY YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED YOUR PAYMENT IS BECAUSE YOUHAVE NOT FUFILLED THE OBLIGATIONS GIVEN TO YOU IN RESPECT OF YOUR CONTRACT/INHERITANCE PAYMENT.SECONDLY WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT YOU ARE STILL DEALING WITH THE NONE OFFICIALS IN THE BANK ALL YOUR ATTEMPT TO SECURE THE RELEASE OF THE FUND TO YOU.

I have already replied to this but cannot, in the name of decency, make it public. I'd get kicked right off the site, never mind the Forums! Needless to say, there is some very bad language involved. I HATE SCAMMERS!!!!!

I usually keep these wee turds going to see what info I can glean, then send my standard reply, again not fit for public consumption. I know I shouldn't but this bunch of scum really get on my wick! I'm not trying to sell goods on auction sites, etc for the fun of it. And these clowns want to rip me off? Don't think so. And just because the sender of this latest scam purports to be female doesn't mean I'm going to tone the language/insults down. If anything, it'll probably be worse!

You shouldn't ever reply to spams, scams or dodgy emails of any sort. Neither should you ever use the "click here to unsubscribe" links that some of them give. By responding in any way, you are telling them that your email address is active. Active addresses are then added to spam lists and sold on to even more spammers, scammers and scum. There is also always the risk that the link will lead you to a dodgy site.

So, in short, just ignore them and bin their emails.

The thing is if they send 100,000 out and get ONE genuine reply then its worked. there's one born every minute!... If this scam did not work then we would not receive rubbish like this every month or so.

Damien, Irene - I KNOW I shouldn't reply to them. I always report the low-lifes anyway. But it just makes me so angry that this scum think it's OK to sit back and scam people. Even worse, that I would fall for such an illiterate message. I know that some people do fall for this type of thing, usually older people. And that makes me even angrier!

I have never answered any of them ( my policy ). But as it has been pointed out enough follow through to make it worth the effort by the scammers.
I find it hard to have any sympathy for those who are taken since it is greed that motivates their response in the first place.

I keep getting them from a so called HSBC. Apparently they want to put £5,500 into my account - I don't have an account with them.

Craig's wins for being a classier and perhaps even more believable story as scams go. Any attorney hoping their soul (sic) rest in peace must be quite a nice guy.

Amounts scream SCAM. $5m $7m. Sure. But I bet there are lots more people who fall for chance to get $20,000 instead. Probably give all bank details and lose money but are too embarrassed to say something to authorities.
