Thread: Help, Found an old "old curiosity shop" book

  1. #1

Question Help, Found an old "old curiosity shop" book

Now it's a bit battered (more than a fish) but has no date, no edition number etc. The only relevant info is in these pictures. It has 343 pages. Sorry that some pictures be low a little larger than I normally post

    Anyone any idea if
    a) it's better in the bin,
    b) rough year / decade
    c) value (which I doubt it has any)

Wow, I don't know much about old fiction books, but this looks like something a collector might want.

I collect old history books, some of which aren't in the best condition, but IMHO the reading matter is definitely worth the effort of taping/gluing them back together.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

So as he sold Boots to the American company in 1920 (you helped me find Google which helped me find wiki page), that would make the book earlier. So somewhere between 1877 when he took over the shop and 1920 when he sold it.

Cool. I looked at it more, and my ignorance is sticking out all over!! You't think the ermine lined robes would weight down the little ignorance quills, but no! I didn't realize this was Dickens!! I thought it was just some catalogue of pharmacy things............ - you'd better check it out.........maybe you will be able to retire!!!! Dickens, huh? go figure. Now there's another thing I need to brush up on............sigh.

I used to collect old school books. I had one math book that had word problems.........one was something like: If John has two ounces, and Mary has 3/4 ounces, and James has 1/3 ounce, how much cocaine is there in total?
