Default Important if you live alone and sell on line

This is a message I received from a lady who bought some templates from me a long time ago. I haven't heard from her in a while, but this is so bizarre as to what happened to her
and it was related to EBAY....a must read! I deleted all her email info and others emails she had showing on it for her privacy, but we need to think about this and take it seriously!

I received this from a seller on Ebay today. Just a little scary I think

I don't want to type this to everyone so I'm gonna forward it to all, so they too can protect themselves.
Had an interesting experience and just came from the police dept. I had listed on ebay some silver certificates that Dorothy had left me when she died.
I've had them about a year and said What the hell do I want these for, so I looked on ebay and they were selling so thought I would list mine.
Sold the first lot and then listed the 2nd lot and just sold those.
But this morning a knock on my door I look out the glass part of the front door, and I see a man I don't know, so I opened the door but at the same time flipped the latch up to lock the storm door.
I said Yes and he said Hi Ebayer! I saw you had listed some Silver certificates and thought I would stop by as I like to look at them in person,
that's when I thought I would have another heart attack!!!!!
I said Oh sorry they sold and have been mailed off, he said Do you have anymore?
I said Sorry Wish I did!!!I said Gotta go I'm on the phone.
I shut and locked the door, ran to the back door and locked that.
Then looked at his car, Was only able to make out it was a white sedan brand who the hell knows they all look the same. But it did have a Rhode Island plate and I was able to get
the 2 initials and 1 number the other 2 numbers I couldn't get.
Called the police and they said he really didn't do anything wrong, but itf I would like to come in and file a report I could.
So I did this afternoon. Then they gave me much needed info if you list on ebay ,Craigs list, Etsy etc.
DO NOT use your name and address............ get a P.O. Box that way they can't track you down.
    So I did!
So later I will go into my ebay acct and pay pal acct and change all that info.
As they said you have to be careful today, the man could have been innosent and just wanted to see them in person as he was finicky or he could have wanted to gain access to the house and rob me.
They don't plan to go after him unless he shows up again, or if we end up coming home and the house has been robbed.
But it was scary, things that happen today, you never know!
Just what I needed when I'm ready to crash and burn anyway!
So if you do ebay or anything such as that I'd advise you to do the same!

Yikes, that is scary! I don't live alone, but, even so, I'd have been scared witless by that guy. Thanks for the heads up on this one.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

The only way they could of got the addres is if they bought from her or sold to her. So shouldn't be hard to track down.
Even email addresses are hidden until there's a transaction

Oh boy! Is that ever scary. I`m fortunate in that I don`t live alone. Even when I am at home alone, we have Big Dog (yes, that is his name LOL), who greets everyone at the begining of our driveway. If they are not family, he barks and alerts the inside dog. We also have a house full of guns (another hobby), and we do keep one in the kitchen. Big Dog lets nobody out of their car, unless they are family. We live approx 6 miles outside town, so we are really cautious anyway. I hope everyone reads your post and remembers it before answering their doors. When I read it, i remembered the Craigslist killings.

    Paranoid much?

Make sure you don't ever give your address when you're listing your garage sale on craigslist

Well if you don't post the address for the garage sale how are you going to sell your garage.

Are you trying to spoil a good scare story with commonsense

Scarey is right! I do live alone, plus I live in the boondocks (and I DO mean boondocks!). But I don't worry much...if anyone were to try and get into my little abode I've got a 10mm Smith & Wesson that I can stick up their nose.....oh....that's right....it's too BIG to stick up their nose! Guess I'd just have to drop 'em in their tracks.
