Thread: First Class International

  1. #1

    Question First Class International

In an attempt to boost my sales, I want to offer international shipping. It looks like First Class International is my only option. My items weigh under 4lbs, and worth under $100. I will be sending them by Registered Mail, but what about Return Receipt or Signature Confirmation?

Turns out International Mail is so much different from all-familiar Domestic... No delivery confirmation...

What do you think? I'll be shipping to Canada & UK, for starters.

Do not send Registered. Costs about $14 additional and offers no international protection.

What are my options in this case? Priority? I still want some protection like I used to with Domestic Delivery Confirmation.

    How about fragile items?

    Any ideas?

    Thanx

You can insure with 3rd party insurance like upic

With Priority you can do Postal insurance

You have no protection against paypig unless you go to Express Mail

    Thanks, Jewel.

Does that mean I can use either First Class OR Flat-Rate Priority, and purchase insurance for either one?

Do I need Return Receipt? Registered? I am a newbie at International Shipping, as you might as well know LOL

    No DC on International, correct?

Just like you say, I haven't failed...

You cannot purchase Postal insurance on First Class International or small Flat Rate Priority

Return reciept is good for nothing

Registered is good for nothing and expensive

Yep, no real protection against Paypal claims unless you go express, which is way too expensive for lower cost items. I'm with my neighbor on this one. Third party insurance is probably the way to go.

I use registered first class mail international on my expensive items and I've been happy with it so far.

Registered Mail is insured up to $25,000 against loss or damage. You can even verify the date and time of delivery and the delivery attempts online.

    Check it out here:

    Only $25,000 within the US

    "330 Registered Mail
    331 Description

Customers may use Registered Mail service for additional protection and security in dispatch and conveyance in the United States. For each registered item a mailing receipt is issued by the office of mailing and a record of delivery is maintained at the office of destination. Indemnity limits are much lower for Registered Mail items than for insured mail. In the United States, Registered Mail items are handled separately from all other mail and are kept in a secure area with restricted access. In destination countries, Registered Mail items are handled according to their own internal procedures.
