Different Postcodes for same road

Thought I'd check the post code for my road, one house along my road has 1 postcode and next door has a different postcode

Postcodes are allocated for blocks of dwellings, not entire roads. For example, one block of flats is likely to have a different postcode to both neighbouring properties.

But what about houses that have different postcodes but next door to each other?

House Number 86 ends in 2AP
House Number 87 ends in 2DD
House Number 88 ends in 2AP
House Number 89 ends in 2DD

I though you sometimes worked for the Post Office in the sorting office? Didn't they explain to you how post codes worked?

Where have you been all your life, Craig? It is pretty normal for houses to be even numbered one side of the road and odd the other so, typically, those houses would have the same postcode as next door!

That maybe true, but these houses are next door to each other, due to a school being on the opposite side of the road.

May be if the Post Office trained their workers properly the Postie would learn not to give my mail to someone in the next street.

Our postie is a little gem.Knows Where and with who to leave things when you are out.But a friend of ours had a postie that used to put things through letter boxes at random.Turned out he could speak English but not read it.Sigh.
