I was saddened to read that the star of "Gunsmoke" died today at 88. I consider that the best tv western of all time. The writing was far, far superior to the others of the genre.

I liked Gunsmoke too, TexasAda and am sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Arness.

How are we going to get along without Matt Dillon?

Did Death say... " I'm a coming Mr. Dillon? "
(Who was the character that used to say that?)
Yep, I'm a thinkin it was Chester who said that. But although I watch Gunsmoke reruns every chance I get, many times a week, I never see episodes with Chester. Nor those with Quint (Burt Reynolds). My guess is relying on memories of decades ago.
To the best of my knowledge, now all the stars of Gunsmoke have left except Newly O'Brien (Buck Taylor).
