Others have said that our falling numbers may have been due to ebid deleting outdated listings or due to sales!

Its good that ebid do this occassionally, but
I don't think we have had that many sales in the last 2 weeks.

I hope that the huge drop was not due to many giving up, or not relisting 7 day listings, or withdrawing auctions due to the item being sold elsewhere.
May be its the school holidays ending and people have more time.
But I don't usually buy these seasonal reasons.

A lot of new members join ebid and expect sales in the first week!

Anyway if the rises of the last few days carries on we will be ahead of the Moon again.

And yes I do think that listings numbers matter.
It must have a great influence on which site people join, and also offers more choice for buyers.

The whole online selling community is looking for one site to really take off.
There are three contenders of which ebid is one (the best one imho)
The one that really breaks ahead with a huge growth in listings will be the one that everyone gravitates to.

    .
???... I think the school holidays make a huge difference to numbers particularly a short holiday like the May half term where the amount of people going away are condensed. If people are away for a week then not only are they not listing new items but they are not relisting either. I just think of the stacks of items to relist that I come home to after being away for just one week in the summer !

I agree, it think it may be better to assess the situation again now that people are back into the swing of things. I would suggest listings are incredibly seasonal and national holidays will have a massive impact on listings and sales.

Our main competition in the listings race, the site that is second on the PSU list goes up by 3,000 listings just about every day.
They don't seem to be affected by seasonal trends.
    Nor does ebay.

As others have already said, listing totals may be static or falling because sales, for what ever reason on eBid may be increasing.

This is true in my case. I have 5 shops selling a variety of items. I managed to reach a total of 1050 items for sale.

In the last 12 days from the 26/05/2011 up until this morning 07/06/2011 I have sold 95 lots (some consisting of multiple items).

I have also closed 11 items to take advantage of Feebays Free Listing Weekend.

I think a lot of people do the same on free listing weekends, I know I do sometime. I also think ebid has more sales over all than we think it does.

    Great news!

We are back in second place on the Powersellers Unite site Auction Count List.
With a really big increase today.
    Lets hope it keeps up.
