Royal Mail not accepting post for Canada

Just picked this up from the MSE forums:

"Mail services to Canada suspended
Due to industrial action by Canadian postal workers all mail services to/from and within Canada have been suspended. Mail sent since Friday 10th June may not have been delivered and any mail currently in the Royal Mail system will be retained until service is resumed. From tomorrow, Thursday 16th June no further mail for Canada will be accepted until normal service resumes.

Just so happened I was just chasing a compensation claim with the post office and I just asked in passing what was happening with the canadian postal strike..... it appears the memo hit their desks this morning confirming no post going to of from canada.

Now that is odd, considering I just purchased an item from a Canadian seller who stated it may take a little while to get to me, but the item will be mailed out. I'm not in any hurry, as I'm going to be away for two months anyhow, though I do feel badly for the Canadian sellers, as this must be a real hassle for them.

So what will happen to postbox Canadian mail? will it be returned to sender or just kept in a pile ready for when they do start accepting in Canada

Strange that one. Sympathies to all our sellers in Canada and buyers wanting to buy from them.
Anyone in Canada any idea how long it may go on?

Hope it doesn't spread to others, that would really mess things up!!

they are stock pileing it at central sorting offices

Hope things get sorted soon for Canada's postal system.

USPS is having some severe challenges that may manifest in full this year. Do not even like to think about it.

The last I heard the federal government was going to legislate the posties back to work.

Canada post employees were doing rotating strikes in different cities a day at a time. Canada Post has now locked their employees out. The gov. of Canada is going to introduce legislation, ordering the workers back to work. This is suppose to happen within the week. Let's hope.
