Thread: Thread deleted

    Thumbs down Thread deleted

OK, so posting rude and/or adult related material in the forum itself is against the rules - as it should be - but now we're not even allowed to post a link to an external site showing funny pictures?

I started a thread earlier which had a link to a site showing pictures of signs that had been badly translated from Chinese into English. The site was non-eCommerce related and I did not post any of the images over here. I even went so far as to put a warning in the title that the thread was for adults only - but I suppose that was my mistake. Had I not bothered to warn people maybe the thread would still be active and grown ups would be able to laugh at the funny pictures.

With so many other things on the site that really could do with addressing, is it really the best use of eBid staff time to remove something so harmless as a funny thread?

I wonder if all the joke posts in various threads create an impression to browsers that eBid is not a serious buying and selling site.
Perhaps we should have a thread specifically for posting funny items.

Yes, I know you love them.

Normally I'm not a fan of them either, but this annoyed me.

The content I posted was not offensive or in breach of any rule that I am aware of. Previous threads that contained similar images - and that's images that were posted here, not just linked to - were allowed, yet mine was removed.

If this is as the result of a change in eBid policy, then it would be really nice if someone would actually tell us what the policy is. Other people might say that eBid's biggest fault is the lack of advertising, or the missing phone app or any one of the dozen or so other common complaints, but to me the single biggest issue is the lack of communication.

I'm sorry, would you mind to elaborate what communication do you mean?

All sorts: rules regarding what can or can't be posted in the forums, rules regarding what can or can't be listed for sale, information on why threads are/were removed, information on why listings are/were removed, changes of policy, warning (more than 30 minutes in advance) of when the site will be down for maintenance, any changes of policy for membership, acknowledgement of suggestions - and an idea of whether those suggestions are being considered or rejected, acknowledgement when listings are reported to support, answers to questions sent when items are reported and so on.

Come on DS haven't you worked it out yet? I came to the conclusionn12-18 months ago but have yet to get the official proof - but I am getting closer.
