Default Anyone familiar with the "Crop Thumbnail" feature?

    aaa
I was trying to crop an already uploaded picture using the "Crop Thumbnail" feature under "Modify Auction"
    The instructions say.....

"Select an area using your mouse on the original image.
When you are happy with the thumbnail hit the submit button to finish.
The thumbnail version will be shown in search results on eBid.
Your original image will remain unchanged and appear on the auction details page."

I've tried a few times, but the thumbnail just remains its original size ....

(The preview shows the new size OK and it seems to "accept" it when I press the "Submit Crop" button, - but alas when searching the item - no crop has taken place ......

If anyone's had success using this feature, could you please help me here?

    Thanks MPS .....

Well - you wouldn't read about it !
I went back in and tried it again myself ...... and VOILA ! it worked this time !!!
I did exactly the same as before (when it didn't work) - only this time it gave me an instant 'update' of the crop - below the 'Image Upload Form'.
    When I saw that update there - I knew it'd worked ....

Oh well - All's well that ends well ...

Thanks again MPS for responding and for that picture info you posted - that 1. / 2. order is important - much appreciated !

Did I say "All's well that ends well"? ...

Seems this "Crop Thumnails" is very
intermittant, 'cos I've achieved only ONE successful crop - all the others failed.

I must have tried dozens of times - there's something strange with this feature.
    Anyone else get
    CONSISTENT results ????

    Well I missed that too.

Strange mine is not ticked, but still worked OK for me. I did 3 test listings in a row, and all were perfect.

    That's interesting MPS ......
    Same for me.
That ONE time I got it to work (after you posted) - that was also with the box NOT ticked, well I definately didn't select the tick.

Anyway, seems it has to be selected to
    guarrantee a successful crop.

Handy feature really, because you can still upload your "full view" image, (which is great for the page layout).
But then, without having to upload a second close up shot (for the gallery thumbnail), you can crop a close up out of your main picture easily with this feature.... Quite handy really !

You need to have the box ticked if you want to crop the image at the time you upload it.

If you want to crop it once it is in your gallery you shouldn't need to tick it, as that checkbox is part of the upload form

I used it OK in Seamonkey yesterday, I wonder if the browser you are using makes a difference?

I'd check with support if you keep getting intermittent results.

    Hi Chris......

Yes, having that box ticked when uploading would make sense given where the box is positioned (under the 'browse' button for finding your file).

The thing is - I still have to select it when trying to crop an already uploaded file, (which is what I was failing to do).
And if I don't select it then the crop doesn't work.

    It's most peculiar.
