People are always asking if anything sells on ebid.
In that vein what about the boys displaying a weekly or monthly sales figure on home page, or publishing same in the newsletter.
What do you folks think?

It would be interesting to know the number of items volume of sales, but I doubt that they would choose to display the $£ amount.

I'm not sure that overall sales would be very meaningful or helpful. Its OK if the numbers went up every month, but if the reverse happened it would be a very bad advert. Certainly items do sell OK on eBid; I don't have any problems with sales though I am aware some people don't do so well.
I was thinking of volume not price.
I disagree. Sales are on the increase and more people are joining ebid.I'm not sure that overall sales would be very meaningful or helpful. Sales volumes and the sectors doing well would be very helpful information.
I suspect the second hand & collectible sectors are the top performers.
If it's right and the figures bear that out; then I'd expect loads of new sellers who would be swayed by accurate information.
My sales are improving month on month and I guess that is reflected across the site. I’m just a bit wary of the site advertising the total number of sales as it could be a number that people feel is not a good advert. I must admit I’d like to know whether the total site sales is nearer 10,000 a month or nearer 100,000 a month. If it was nearer the lower figure would that be a good advert? I wonder. Any guesses, informed or otherwise?
It doesn't really have to be actual figures.
What about percentage growth within a few key sectors?
<I like a good graph - or is that laugh?>
Personally I dont think % increase would be any help unless the initial figure was known.
Example.....
I could sell 1 item today.
Tomorrow I could sell 2 items - then come in here and say that my sales have increased by 100% overnight. It would sound good -but in effect it would only be 1 extra item.
Ebid sometimes announce a percentage increase in sales on last year in their newsletter.
But as posters say that is meaningless.
We really need actual sales and dollar figures each month.
Etsy publish theirs each month.
I don't think people would be expecting huge sales as we all know that ebid is not as big as ebay or etsy.
But if there was an upward trend it may encourage people.
But then again our Alexa rating has been going down for the last 3 months. Is this a "northern summer effect" or are people using ebid less ?
Listings numbers are stuck in a rut.
Ebid needs lots of new professional sellers with large numbers of items - and an API to faciliate this..
