Yes I know what you mean... what do chickens eat and how would you prepare it in time. Not to mention the problem with cross species table manners.

Free range and less than 1 hour old? If not then shame... (they really do taste so much better when fresh)

Keeping hens don't stop me from eating chicken, I just don't eat 'Betsy" or "Jack". I buy chicken from the local butcher. We tried many years ago killing an old hen (wasn't laying many eggs anymore) to eat and its really not very good for meat, they tend to be full of sinew. So we let the girls live out their lives until they drop from natural causes. I don't raise chickens specially for meat, just eggs.
