Hi, its basically what the title says. I put a Bid on a pair of Boots. Whilst looking at the Sellers page , I see it says ' Proxy' Bid. I thought that it normally would just say ' Bid' . Many thanks

It's how most big auction sites work. a proxy bid is one made on your behalf by the system, up until your max bid is reached.
If you bid max 10.00 and the item is currently at £2.00 you only bid 2 of your ten. If somebody else comes along and bids 8, the system will make proxy bids for you until you beat the 8, because your max is high enough. If your max was just 6 it would proxy bid that far, then the other person would be winning at around 7 (depending on increments).
Thank you very much Kimbo
