Thread: A little SEO advice

  1. #1

    Default A little SEO advice

I often wondered why I do not see more of eBid on the net. I am getting quite good at search engine optimization so I did some checks.on the main site (Not the software auction program) The main eBid.net site has a 25% score in meta description. The meta keyword description score is 27%. There is 35 images on the main site and none have alt tags (descriptions); They need them.
There is no H1 heading. It should have one. The site can live at either www.ebid.net or ebid.net
Combine the 2 different url address using a 301 direct from one to the other. (which ever one you choose) Probally the biggest SEO factor.

There is only 10 internal links and 1 outgoing! This is serious bad news. The main site should be linked to every good media outlet there is. You tube for starters. Twitter, Facebook, etc.
5 name servers and the page speed was bad when I checked 69/100.

The overall seo score for the site is 50%. I have websites in the 90%+.
A website needs to be search engine friendly. I am not trying to be critical. I know the guys are busy. Thought I should point this out to Mark and Gazza. They could address a few of the problems between fixing every one else's.

    Cheers, Mike

Update. A did a search robot check. These are the only links the robots see from the site at moment.

More linking will help the people who have been doing it internally with their stores.

    BUMP!

Yes, I could not agree more, especially the multi domains are really killing ebids seo. get some 301's going.

I don't think they are trying to sell the site

Of more importance is selling the products listed here

It would be nice if they would upload all elligible items to google shopping and remove the dead links there for sold and expired items
    My clutter

I don't play the reserve game

Hi Canuckbid, great suggestions there. I'm sure a few tweaks would make all the difference. I'm just wondering if this thread would be better on the Website suggestions section? I'm not being critical, just noticed there was no reply from Gazza. He probably watches the website suggestion section more so than others? I could be wrong and if I am apologies in advance Gazza.

yes, our theatre group has a free site but because we spent a lot of time over our meta-tags and popping our links all over the place we have pretty decent results in Google searches now. Also worth using things like webrings and that.

Great ideas. Anything that can lift the profile and viewings has got to help. Even better, all it costs is time. I know the guys have'nt got much (if any) spare time, but if they have, these tweaks should help us all.

Maybe now that the site is growing a bit more, it may be time to get another body on board, somebody to help with the improvements, and help sell the site on social media, there's lots that can be done, and the cost might be fully covered by increased revenue, it does'nt take too many joining at seller+ to start to add up, add in increased sales, advertising revenue and it might start to make sense.
