Just seen it on't local news THEY ARE SHUTTING HARRY RAMSDENS.!!!!!!

No they can't do it. The shop in Guisley is the original one and should be maintained for posterity.

Shouldn't be allowed to destroy this Yorkshire institiution. How many of us and families have been there?

It was my grandparents favourite for years (years ago mind you!)

A fantastic place steeped in history, opened in 1928 (I think- not that i remember of course), the original fish and chip restaurant
And they are the only one I know of that used to serve Parsley sauce with the F&C

Another strike at the heart of Yorkshire, wouldn't happen if we had independance!

Come on have a re think. i know financially everything and everyone is suffering but NOT Harry Ramsdens

Old landmark? Its only 84 years old.

Businesses close because they don't get enough customers. If people used them they would stay open. Seen 100's of shops/businesses close over the years.

Are they pulling the actual building down. If not just stick a blue sign on it saying "This was where Harry Ramsden started"

I used to love going to Harry Ramsden's as a kid!! Are they all closing or just the original branch?
Seems to be a sign of the times, lots of businesses struggling

they have franchised them i think around every shopping mall,arndale in the north west.probably thro england.not good and very over priced

Well, there we are.
According to the BBC report the Guisley branch is making a loss.
It may be because of the economic climate, the fact that the brand was bought out in 2010 and (perhaps) changes were made to the food, or a combination of factors.
But like any other business, if people don't use it, it will close. The locals only have themselves to blame.
Perhaps lovers of HR should get their cameras out and take lots of pictures before their chance is lost along with the shop.
