    Default Government decision completely vindicated

I wonder if there are some red faces in Whitehall at the moment.

Half the Russian Baltic fleet is sitting of the coast of Northern Scotland and all we can scrape together is one ship. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...lands-16195628

Do you think that sending a ship from Portsmouth was really what they had in mind as the effective replacement for the Nimrod fleet?

Britannia Rules the Waves? Aye, right!

Did you want the UK to show up with 7 ships as well?

We've only got 19 surface combatant vessels. So it would have been pushing it.

We might have been able to scrape that together if we included some rowing boats and a couple of Thames barges.

Point is that we used to have a fleet of reconnaissance planes based about 50 miles away. Apparently we didn't need them any more and they were all scrapped and the base shut down.
Now they've had to send a 30 year old destroyer 900 miles to keep an eye on things.

Imagine if the threat was serious.

Just call on the US or China to defend? I think we are still trying to police the world here. No wonder we are broke.

If there were a serious threat I'm thinking the RAF would be able to handle most issues..........
