Okay this is on the other side, but I am utterly confused, and youre all such a helpful lot here, I thought I would ask.
At the start of the month I sold a set of DVDs to someone upcountry. all fine. then yesterday morning I woke up to a paypal claim. I fished out the tracking number. Sure enough someone of her name had signed for it three days after it was posted. So I messaged her via ebay to ask if there was a problem, and why she had opened a claim.
She said that she was changing bank accounts and that Paypal was doing this, she didnt know why, but she was very sorry, and hadnt opened a claim against me, she was totally happy with the DVDs, she also rushed and left positive feedback for the DVDs, I input tracking just to be helpful as well so it showed as recieved on the system.
This morning its still not closed and I am getting emails from Paypal showing its not been sorted. I have sent a nasty one back to Paypal, and again messaged this woman to ask whats going on. Meantime she has sent me a second payment for the DVDs randomly into my paypal account. Very nice but I would rather she close the claim... I cant decide if Paypals being retarded and she's telling the truth, or if she is trying some really bizarre and elaborate scam, or what.
Do Paypal REALLY automatically dispute your purchases if you then a few weeks later change bank account? I have never heard of this before... I would very much appreciate your input on this.
(note, it is highly unlikely to be a phishing scam as I always log in directly to my paypal via a clean browser window and dont use email links)
