Pinterest is a very good networking tool

Has everyone heard about Pinterest. It is a great way to get your items seen. It is like a bulletin board. You can post links to your items for sale and a picture will appear of them and also a good way to promote ebid. It is free. Just google Pinterest and follow directions. It took me all of five minutes to get registered. Then they will send you an invitation and you can start pinning your items. Check it out, it will help everyone.

It has certainly brought visitors to my blog. I've also discovered since joining that my project tutorials have been pinned independently several times by other people - which I was very chuffed about!

Julie - Pinterest launched in early 2010 - it had 40,000 monthly visitors by October 2010. Pinterest had 11 million visitors in the week of January 12th 2012 so it is growing at an incredible rate. (4,000% in six months June - Dec 2011). It is now one of the top ten sites tracked by Hitwise. That would all seem to suggest that a great many people indeed have heard of Pinterest!

From what I understand it is OK to promote your merchandise on Pinterest but it is considered rather bad manners to only use it to promote. Someone recently described it as a black hole for time as there is so much to see - so it is quite easy to join in, create boards and share your inspirations and disguise the "selling" a bit - even though it is your intention to sell.

You always have to wait for an "invitation" and it can take several days! (EEK!) Once you are on you can invite other people to join!
