I totally agree...taking a small child to any big event like that would be very UNchildfriendly in my view.

In places that put themselves out to be child friendly it should mean finding ways to make the place somewhere that provides care for children and/or activities to keep them occupied etc. I don't see how that could mean allowing babies into huge events for free.

I think the original post was to do with charging parents for a ticket for a baby whether they used a seat or not.

A sort of similar situation is expecting a single fare on a plane for people who need two seats because they can't fit in a single one and then complaining when you are charged for two seats.

good morning Baghag , it is not a question off the the crowd making more noise than than the babies , I feel it is the fact that possible SQUEELING babies might be sitting right next to me , or you , or who ever , and I do not think the people who will be paying will want that ?....would you really want that...papa.
Cant see the differance with some one screaming their head off sitting next to me, or someone yacking away during a film at the cinema.
Kids have never bothered me prefer them to so called Adults.

I think the difference is that we are 'programmed' so that a child's cry finds every raw nerve in the body. It's evolutionary purpose is to draw attention to the child's needs over and above whatever else is happening in the world at that time.

My main objection remains not that the kids might cry, but that it is not a suitable place for a young child to be taken. So my concerns are for the child's welfare and not that of other attendees.

I'm not going to the games, so this particular instance will not affect me. It does though show the all too prevalent bad parents around that care more for their selfish wants than for their child's welfare.

As a parent I have sometimes had to cancel outings because my child's need for caring was greater than my want for socialising.

This meant cancelling arrangements and losing out financially because I had paid for tickets up front.

Had I bought Olympic games event tickets then found that I had a baby in tow that wasn't around when I booked and couldn't buy them a ticket because they had sold out I would have to either find someone to look after my baby or just not go myself.

In any event, I wouldn't have taken a young child with me because I would guess at some point they would need some quiet time etc which I wouldn't have access to at the Olympic Games.

As an aside, I never took my youngsters to the cinema or to restaurants until they were socialised enough not to cause a problem for other people.

That kind of consideration is all too rare nowadays. Now parents expect others to put up with their children screaming and running amok. They are used to it, so they don't care. Sod everybody else.

What anyone wants to put their child thru is nothing to do with me (although I still dont think it is a place to take a youngster) - but if I paid out money to attend any part of the games, I dont want my day out spoiled by a baby next to me - probably crying for hours - and more than likely filling a nappie with smelly stuff, therefore affecting all those in the immediate area.

If someone in the cinema was yakking next to me - I would soon tell them to shut it.

Try doing that to a mum at the games (although I would anyway).

It could also be detrimental to many of the athletes themselves.
Archery - just about to let the arrow go and suddenly a baby starts bawling!!
Tennis - just about to serve and the same thing.
Many other events this applies to.
