Hi all, it's been a bit quiet from our traveller's of late, & just to bring everyone up to date.
Bro & Sil were moving to Mysore from Chennai on the 14th, by an overnight express train.
I suspect they are catching up on sleep, or more likely, have no WiFi net access ATM.
As soon as I get more news 'n pix, I'll bring you the latest.
Cheers all, & thanks for your interest & comments - enjoy
Allen.
WiFi connectivity being found - we have more reports.
These from the hotel in Mysore (pop. 800K approx.) Bro & Sil have found.

The Mysore Devaraja Markets Forage
#1 Good quality fruits found here.
#2 And vegetables.
#3 Of all types & any quantity.
#4 Even kumkum powder. (used for the bindi, forehead dots)
#5 While Sil tucks into her birthday pawpaw back at the hotel. (6 rupees or $0.13)
Fascinating pics!! Thanks for sharing! re: the Kumkum powder - the colors are gorgeous. Does each color mean something, or do they pick a color to match their outfit for the day? (Pardon my ignorance). The pawpaw looks yummy - never had one of those. Thanks for sharing sights I will likely never see in person!
Ta-Ta for now!

Good question Your Majesty - one I can't answer - but I'll try to find out & report back.
I don't like pawpaw - it's an acquired taste in my book - but Sil reckoned this one was very nice & sweet.
Doubtful I'll ever get to these exotic places either but glad everyone's enjoying the pix.
I don't like pawpaw as a rule, but I have eaten one more or less straight from the tree and it does taste far better than the imported ones. As for the coloured dots, I think they have or maybe had a meaning, as some of the Indian ladies I know do match them to their saris
The Palace of the Maharaja of Mysore
After an early breakfast, Bro & Sil made their way to the Palace - and described the experience in these glowing terms.
"For all the splendour of the exterior of the building it is the interior that impresses most. Unfortunately photo's are not allowed inside and to attempt to describe the wonder and the opulence is an impossibility. In short, it is the most fantastic thing we have ever seen.
