Default What are local events where you live?

I jsut noticed Bunsock lives in Newent, and was asking if they ever list anything from the wonderful Onion Fayre that is held there in early autumn.

Made me think about all the lovely sights I have yet to see in the UK, and specialist events.

In Monmouth, there is, in August, The Monmouth Festival, which is one of, if not THE, largest free music festival in the UK - maybe EU. Lots of band and groups come and play over a period of 9 days, at usually 3 or 4 venues in town. On the main stage, the most well-known groups play..........had the Yardbirds there one year, and usually 3 bands there in an evening, one or two at each of the other venues. Some classical and solo work done in the church, and smaller groups in local pubs. Great fun, food and music!!

What's happening near you during the year??
    Ta-Ta for now!

Of course I don't live in the UK, but we have a great strawberry festival in March in Plant City and a super seafood festival in Riverview in the fall. I have to admit I eat too much at each event. But along with the food festival there are lots of arts and crafts artists so I try to walk it off.

Now that's a loaded question if I've ever heard one, LOL.

Nothing much goes on around here, unless you count the gun shows every few months. There was a state fair a while back, didn't go though as I'm not a fan of large crowds. Oh and from time to time there are outdoor concerts featuring local bands.

I miss Rah-Cha-Cha, especially the Lilac Festival, marching in the summer parades and drinking beer with the firemen at the small local carnivals afterwards.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

PS - Oops, almost forgot the post celebrations for Memorial Day and Veterans Day and the many events they hold for military families throughout the year, silly me.

The only thing we have is the Victorian weekend at the begining of May, to be honest there isn't much of interest goes on apart from a few steam engins and all the locals stay in
Now Conwy town has farmers markets, honey fests and other little things going on.

Not a lot going on in down here in lil old London this year - apart from the Cup Final, League Cup final, a few other finals...and oh yeah... the Olympic games.
The Olympic rowing is about 15 mins along the road from me near Windsor Castle- with the football a few miles in the other direction at Wembley.
OIympic Canoe slalom course is also few miles away also at Waltham Cross.

So not a lot going on.

Anything that makes you smile has been closed down by the local council or have priced themselves out.
