Question where is the buy it now button

Hi, Can some one tell me why the 'buy it now button" goes away when bids are recieved. I think it should stay for those who don't want to go thru the bidding process. If they really want it they should have the chance to buy it now, and not have to wait till auction ends, and thay might be out bidded.

There is an option of Auction or Buy It Now.
Buy It Now and it is bought.
When an Auction Bid is received the Auction is open for further bids if they come along so the Buy It Now is disabled - it is an Auction only format.

Isn't it something to do with the amount too? If auction is at $10 and BIN is at $12, when the bidding reaches $12, doesn't the BIN go away? i.e. silly to have bidding go to $100 and BIN stay at $12?

Seem logical for the BuyNow option to vanish after a bid has been made (...but then I am an illogical person).

More likely down to legalities. If you offer an item for auction and a bid is received above any reserve amount set then you have entered into a contract to sell that item to the highest bidder (even if there is only that one bid). Therefore you cannot legally continue to offer it for sale by other means. If you did and someone came and used BuyNow you would have to break your contract with one of the buyers.

Where the above may fall down is if BuyNow disappears if a bid is made below reserve. Not sure if that happens or not.
