I just posted my plug auction for eBid. I hope this doesnt break any rules or step on the toes of others who do plug their auctions. If so the eBid plugs can just be placed in the KT

Moon, sorry you're not feeling well, get better soon and good luck with the elections. HM, hope you enjoy your vacation, just be sure to avoid the South, it's miserably hot here and only April...
Still waiting on the hawk eggs to hatch, my guess of Monday came and went, but hope to see the little ones emerge soon.
Cheers,
The majority of 'guests' are bots and spiders crawling the web for the search engines rather than actual people.
There isn't much need for a postage calculator in the UK as we only have 3 zones - Domestic, Europe and 'Rest of World'. There's also the problem that our postal service hasn't released an API so there's nothing for a calculator to connect to.

How the your home? Dry? Gin coming up
Wonderful. I htink the gin is probably slightly drier than my flat but I'll put a full update on the barracks notice board so I'm not double posting. The good news is the drinks cupboard didn't get a soaking so all 15 bottles of single malt survived intact. If they hadn't you would have heard Cornish wailing when she felt the disturbance in the 'force'.

15 Bottles of Single Malt? We would have felt the disturbance here in the US.
I see a couple new folks in the thread today. Welcome come visit anytime.
CMJ, I appreciate your comment on my idea. As always I get a thought then immediately get it posted before thinking it all the way through. I didn't really take into consideration bots/spiders visiting the forums. I had thought that would be saved for actual listings but who knows nowadays.
I'm not even sure what percentage of guests shown could be considered bots but this morning just before I posted the idea there were 42 members and 428 guests. Now there are 81 members and 579 guests. I would have to assume bots are on the job 24 hours a day so it's a good chance the increase from 428 to 579 has a big percentage of guests.
Are the guest figures a majority bots or actual guests?
What are bots botting for in forums?
When we as ebidders plug our auctions, who are we plugging to, bots, guests or each other?
I read so many posts about eBid needs this that and the other thing. There is too much socializing going on. Social threads are getting in the way of plug threads and a host of other complaints, ideas suggestions to many to list here.
My idea was a simple one and probably needs fine tuning but the entire idea was to capture guests attention every hour of every day. Plugging eBid in the "Plug your Auctions" category is probably not the right place as it takes away from individuals wanting to plug their own stuff so the KT may be the place for this. Daily/hourly/semi hourly threads from different members inviting guests to read their post about eBid I really believe would help. How much it helps I don't know only time will tell but if there are eBid guest plugs (for lack of a better term) shown every 1/2 hour then Guests are sure to read some and at least take a quick search through eBid's facilities. Even if only 40% of the tallied guest quantities are real people that's 40% more every hour of everyday we stand a chance of them looking at eBid a little closer.
I mixed up a Gin with a bit of tonic before I reread your post let me know if it's acceptable.
I got a kick out of this one.
