I've been at the sewing machine again. I've never done this before, I found a pattern for a Sun Bonnet Sue Quilt in a couple of my quilt books, one had a pattern for a doll/pillow and I thought it was cute, but the pattern had to be enlarged to twice the size. One of those draw a grid and copy type deals. I might try a pot holder while I'm in the mood. Don't know yet.

I hope this streak ends soon. My neighbor across the street had been caring for her brother diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. They moved Heaven and Earth to get him out of the hospital and into her house on Friday. The ambulance brought him about 9 pm Friday evening. She found him dead last night (Saturday) at 11 pm. She is broken hearted.

I thought I had lost my doggie care job for a bit, but now? She had asked me earlier in the day to come and meet him, but there were so many cars over there yesterday, We decided it wasn't a good time. Ah well. Should be lots of activity over there the next few days.

Well, blizzard on 11/29 and another today. This one seems to be piling up worse. Sadie does not like wind! I even convinced her to stay inside when I went over to let the dogs out across the street.

    Hi everyone -

It's been a busy time for me, with all the family here. I haven't been too well again, I'm OK now, just feeling tired and worn out!

I have the house to myself right now, and I like it!
I heard on the radio that the Christmas decs have to come down today, so that's what I have been doing all morning.
What a miserable job - I remember the joy of decorating the house and tree, listening to Christmas music and downing several (large) glasses of sherry for fortification! Wished we hadn't put so much up now, it's taking ages to get everything down and packed up. I could do with some help really, any offers? lol!

I have to start prepping the Sunday roast dinner now, JR will be back from his shift at the RBL club around 3.30 and the house looks like we have been burgled with 'stuff' everywhere. The table is piled high with boxes - can't lift them to stash them way.

I hope that everyone had a lovely Christmas and New Year celebration, and you are all keeping well and the weather is being kind to you.

I'll leave you with a couple of photos of the kiddies awaiting Santa on Cristmas Eve .....

I'm so pleased to say that ole JR and I are totally on our own tonight - Dom and the girls have gone to spend tonight with Teagan and family in Nottingham, Lucia is also staying away for the weekend - oh, YES! Just us two old fogies spending a night in together - alone!!!!

I'm having roast duck with spring onions and pancakes for my evening meal, JR has already had a curry.
I think I will be watching some TV later, hope there is something good on the box to watch.

Hope everyone is OK - JR had to go for a full body scan yesterday - say a little prayer for us that he will be free of anything nasty....
Take care y'all - live every day as if it's your last .... coz one day - it will be!

Not much action here in the lounge - is everyone OK?

Just started to rain here, and we are supposed to be getting some strong winds up tp 50-52 mph tomorrow.
I think we are getting off rather lightly here in the South East area of East Anglia, hope everyone in the path of storm Brendan will be OK.

Our overseas cousins - how y'all doin'? Snowed in?

I'll take care of y'all with hot toddy's and a couple of Beach Boys choons to cheer you!

Trish - I have not been able to get my car out of the garage for nearly 2 months, first because of a snow drift and now because it won't start - LOL!

I took McAngus (4WD pickup) to sewing club tonight and I won 3rd place in the Stash Queen contest. We keep track for 1 year whenever we use something that we have had for over 1 year to make something and there are bonus points for using a complete piece, a pattern not used before, making something for yourself, and making something 100% from your stash. I hesitated at first to participate since Having had a Fabric store once upon a time my stash is large. But I was out done by a couple of quilters. I got a Gift Certificate from the store where we have our meetings. It was snowing and blowing when I left to come home, I could see and McAngus made it seem trouble free. By the time I got half way home there was no snow and no wind - this happens often as Cheyenne is higher in altitude than Carpenter by 1000 ft and it's only 35 miles. Makes for some weird differences in the weather. The old wind is howling now.

Last Wednesday I noticed Sadie had some mats in her tushie fur and I decided to brush it (she hates it). I can brush the rest of her and she has come to like it, but the tushie is an argument. I try to brush it and she sits on it. When I was done I slipped and sat down quite quickly while trying to get up and forcing my way through it.. My tushie was sore. I am OK, I went and had X-rays, but they put me on some medicine for low oxygen levels I am not happy about, but agreed to try for a month. I missed bowling too. The gist is, I've been moving slowly. I am better, but today I missed an Ibuprofen dose and I felt it. Just muscles.

These pictures are of Sadie's puzzle that I fill with small treats when I am going to be gone for an afternoon or so. While I was at sewing club she opened and emptied all but one compartment. The closed one has dried bananas. She decided she doesn't like the sugar free organic banana chips I found for her. I put dried pineapple and blueberries in addition to pumpkin based treats she loves.

I am up and about, and I may have overdid yesterday as I woke up very sore this morning, but some Ibuprofen has settled that issue for awhile. Thank you very much your majesty for the sage advice. I usually take a B compound, but have been a bit remiss lately. I am very fond of vegetables, so I don't think iron is a problem. I will speak to the APRN when I go back.

Miss Sadie has taken a position beside my chair and has requested I tell you that she does not like to have hear tushie fur so fluffy and it is tender there, but she will try to be more patient with Mom from now on.

I thought I had my car up and running again, but not so. Appears I have ruined yet another battery. I stay home when the weather is bad and this time of year that can end up being a month at a time. I have a nice food stash this time of year so time flies. The battery loses it's charge and freezes. The parts store is delivering a new battery next Thursday. I drive my pickup in the Winter, so, it is fine. I probably don't need 2 vehicles, but as Gary tells me if I only had one vehicle and it broke down, then I'm afoot. Country living has it's price, but I love the peace and quiet.

I am glad for the weekend, and I am planning on trying a new idea I had for hanky angels. I have appliqued some pansies onto some pot holders and I need to get the binding on them, so I should be a happy camper for awhile. I also need to make some bread. I took a loaf to the sewing club and I bought a loaf of French bread also, and there was some left, but I am getting that eaten up, so time to fire up the bread machine. One of the ladies at sewing club really liked my bread. it's sort of my own recipe. I've played with a recipe that came with my old bread machine that died a couple of years ago to make it work with the new one and to reflect my taste.

Lisa is in Maui today, she and Micki will be running their 50th half marathon. One in each state. They saved Hawaii for last. I think it has taken 4 or 5 years to reach their goal. Since they are half marathons they are not as easy to find as marathons. I am so tickled that the 2 sisters have an activity to bond over. They spend some time sight seeing while they are in the locations of the marathons.

Well, I'm going to go play with my fabric and thread. I hope everyone is well and happy! Love you guys!
