dardonbie I sure hope all is well with your kids. We worry more about them then we do ourselves.

The heavy wet snow we were having at noon is almost all gone now.

The saying is if you don't like the weather in the mid west just wait a few minutes and it will change. It is so true!
LOL! Love that saying, will have to share with my Dad.

Donuts, mmmmm, homemade fried cakes are the best, bar none! Every summer when we go to NY there's a little place nearby that makes homemade fried cakes and I indulge all summer long.

    Stay safe everyone.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

These storms brought back memories of the April 3, 1973 tornado devastation along the Ohio River.

Sue, This is really going off subject but I was interested in hearing you refer to donuts as fried cakes. I have my great-grandmother's diaries and she refers to fried cakes and I wondered if that was donuts but never heard that expression anywhere else.

I also have my grandmother's and my mother's diaries and I transcribe them when I have time then share them with my siblings and some cousins who are interested. I think I should just write a book since I have the facts.

I didn't remember about the tornado but that is when we had a massive snowstorm.

I have just been listening to the news on the BBC and it appears to have worsened in the US. One man interviewed said in one town you cannot even make out the foundations of houses. Many people injured. Golf ball sized hailstones and some even the size of baseballs! OMG how absolutely dreadful.

Hope youmeus comes on this morning if she possible can to let us know what is happening. I'm really concerned for her.

So many tonados hit so many states....devastating. They have awesome power. Have seen it firsthand, hidden in basements or cement block outhouses when they went by.........the description of a train is so true. In sound and power. I feel so bad for those areas and people affected.

Oh wow this is truly awful. Prayers and good thoughts going out to youmeus and everyone affected by these horrible storms.

Youmeus, I think you should write that book, I find diaries fascinating myself, and I suspect many others do, too. My Mom calls non-raised donuts fried cakes, guess I picked that up from her.

    Stay safe everyone.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I wonder how our US friends are in the midwest?? Keeping them in my thoughts as the tornado stories unfold.

Heard it on the news tonight. I aint looked at replies on the thread.

I saw the pictures and was really saddened by the sight of the devastation caused by the tornadoes.
That fickle finger of fate that lowers itself from the heavens and points at 'You', wrecks your life and takes away all that you hold dear.

I know it's nature and I accept it as such, but if you believe in God it could feel personal.
