Can't beleive the big increase
They've REALLY ramped up the prices haven't they? Wouldn't mind if we were actually getting a service from the PO but that's going backwards too - except getting really late afternoon mail is a FIRST post not a second one.Bloody disgrace - and Ofcom just gave them carte blanche to rob us.

Good news if you send alarge number of 2kg parcels overseas! But apart from that, disgusting. With luck independant operators will see an opening and start to offer a service for smaller items, I can already get heavier items collected from me and delivered cheaper using independants.
Even worse for eBayers, they have got Final Value Fees to pay on the increase.
I will stand the increase on current listings, too many to go through and adjust. But will have to look seriously at postage charges and types of service I will offer for future listings.

Best prices on designer and branded goods in all five stores.
The international rates are the ones to really make your eyes water. Sending a comic abroad's going to be nearly a fiver. The domestic increase on First Class for my typical package is from £1.09 to £1.20, which is bearable, but the overseas rate is such that I'm going to delete the option of sending abroad altogether.
And the hike in Airmail prices are enormous as well. I might just pull all my overseas postage and just ship to UK only. It's just not worth my effort in working out the prices for 6000 items.
The vast majority of the increase is VAT. Postage via Royal Mail has been exempt from VAT previously but it's now included on a lot of services from April 2nd 2012. Good news if you are VAT registered as you can reclaim it. Not so good if you're not.
That said, the main services that most of us use, 1st & 2nd class, Standard Parcels, International Airmail to name but three, will remain exempt so their price increases are quite high. If you are interested then a full break down is available at:

As RM is Government owned I consider this is a stealth tax and also a way of fattening up the chicken prior to privatisation.
