we are quite lucky up here , plenty of water , but as you say , if the water companies did what they should , fix all the leaks... there MIGHT , not be any need for these bans...the government is quick enough to tell joe public what to do , they should tell the water companies what to do also......papa.

I hope they don't enforce it here or I'll let the geese loose in their offices. Especially effective at the height of goose mating season (Feb to Aug)... and because we got 2 males with one female. I had to separate them this year, it got ugly.

The waste that goes on in industry and badly maintained pipes... I'm not going to suffer when thats going on. They can cut the bosses wages in half and use the saved millions on the repairs needed. The gits.
I remember everything, even what happened tomorrow.

I'm going to be offering packs of dehydrated water for sale. £5.00 for enough to make 50 litres when re-hydrated.

I think you are allowed to use them for the care of livestock. That does bring me back to my original point though...the water companies should have to inform their customers about their ban and exactly what it entails. They should not be allowed to assume people can get the information by other means.

I find it strange that Southern Water, who supply the area around Portsmouth but not actually in Portsmouth, have imposed a ban whereas the Portsmouth Water Co have not imposed a ban
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

What gets me about the whole situation is that you can still use watering cans.
So if I fill the can 10 times to water my plants that's ok but a hosepipe using exactly the same amount of water is wrong.

Anybody who needs a car wash can call in at mine, if you happen to be in the Rochdale area. No ban yet, but even if there is, I've got a hosepipe connected to spring water from the Pennines. Can leave it on all day and there's nothing they could do about it. Was thinking of doing a Dellboy and selling it.

I don't think that's true. It is the use of a hosepipe that is banned - regardless of the water source. So, if you collect rainwater in a butt you cannot use a hosepipe to pipe the water. Think it is even disallowed to fill a watering can using any length of hose from a tap.
