Hi, Welcome to eBid and the Forum
I recently asked about some Chinese things that I have and this link was suggested to me:

You might also get more response if you put a picture up of the back stamp.
It's a very nice piece you have there.

    Hi

When it comes to Chinese ceramics, it is an absolute minefield. The vase you have pictured, if it were indeed a piece which was MARK and PERIOD, meaning it was actually made during the reign of the Emperor whose mark may appear on the bottom, would be a great find indeed. Normally, pieces that are brightly colored such as wares that have a base colour of either GREEN, RED, PINK or YELLOW were pieces that were not for the normal Chinese population but for the Imperial court. Chinese marks are faked all the time and you can have a piece with a Chinese KANGXI reign mark that was made in the 20th century. Not meant to deceive but more in veneration of the early Chinese ceramic artists of the period for which the piece carries a modern mark. If marks are printed, they are almost certainly late 19th or 20th century pieces. To properly indentify if a piece is actually mark and period, it takes decades of research and an expert eye. Considerations such as glaze type and colour, pigementation and bleeding such as a technique known as HEAPED and PILING in Ming Dynyasty ceramics all need to be taken into consideration. Motifs of designs of the period also need to be taken into consideration so it is not an easy thing to identify.

Hope this bit of information helps

    Best wishes

    Dean

I'm going to guess it's likely to be within the past 20 years but there are people who will look at it, date it and value it. Try Value my stuff.

Wow! Thanks for sharing. I too have many oriental pieces, but have not plunged into really trying to date them because of exactly what you are stating above. Maybe someday, I will begin to do this.

Some of the pieces I have acquired are in the colors you mentioned above. Again, very fascinating information about Chinese ceramics. Appreciate your sharing.
