First egg

Started keeping a few hens in our garden at Easter, raised from new hatched chicks,(through my wifes junior school) mainly as pets but hopefully a few eggs aswell.

All 3 turned out to be cockerals so swapped 2 of em back for 2 hens and today we have our first egg!!!! Not very big but still an egg

Its about time they paid a bit back! Garden is now becoming a mess but they seem to be keeping the weeds down as well as wrecking pot plants and the lawn.

Great fun, I think!

I got my hens last summer. the first egg was long and thin and had a band around the middle like a plastic kinder egg. It was a double yolker too.
