Yes...it's great that mum is happy day to day...one of the blessings I have found is that mum is oblivious to the consequences of some of the things she does (usually to do with money) so my sister and I just pick up the pieces when things get silly and try to keep mum as safe and happy as we can.

Sorry to read about your mum, Moony. Alzheimers is a terrible disease to happen to your loved ones, often the patient is unaware of what is going on but it's a lot worse for the families who have to deal with it - they're the ones who suffer most.

So sorry to learn of the latest challenge you and your family are facing. I know you and your sister will do the best you can for your mom; she is very lucky to have you both :-)

As an aside, I actually used the coconut oil with my mom, as well as cinnamon, and those simple dietary additions greatly improved her cognitive functioning for the last 7~8 months of life. Even the neurologist was impressed.

The Great Debit Card Mystery

Mum and Jaquie (my sister) had another conversation about her driving again. Mum hasn't driven her car since February when she broke her arm after a fall.

Mum was saying she wanted to get back in the car and Jaquie reminded her again that she had had the results of some tests and that she had Alzheimer's so couldn't drive.

Mum just said 'well...what do they know...they talk a load of rubbish'

So Jaquie went off on one and said that mum shouldn't come crying to her if she drove off and the police found out and arrested her and mum just stomped off home in a huff.

It's good that she has two daughters who can chat to each other about all this stuff
