    Default Filtering out overseas auctions...

Is there any way of filtering out auctions listed on overseas sites and leaving only ones listed in the UK?

I'm getting really weary of browsing listings when 90% or more listings are listed from the USA. I have no intention of buying anything from the USA, when you add in the high ship costs and then customs/VAT/excise duty and Royal Mail handling charges a £5 item can easily end up at £20-30!

There must be a way of filtering these out, I just can't find it!

    Many thanks and good Karma!

Have you tried sorting by distance nearest to you?

Advanced search and choose the country you want, no?

Thank you both for your swift replies, they are appreciated.

However, both those solutions rely on using the search facility - I don't want to do that, because predominantly, you need to know what you're looking for. I don't know what I'm specifically looking for - I just want to browse listings and look at whatever takes my fancy.

I want to browse an auction category and filter out the auctions that are non-uk ones. But I don't want to browse 1000's of auctions that are not located in this country.

On other sites you simply click a button, UK only. Simple, sorted, but not here it seems!

    Thanks!

How strange,I just mentioned in another thread that I hadn't seen you around for a while and you turn up.

You could always search for something silly like "the" then filter.

I could always move on somewhere else where they provide the searching facilities I need that work the way I want them to.

Sadly, that's what's going to happen. I just do not have the time or inclination to filter out tons of auctions I'm not interested in.

It's sad, but eBid must sort these things out if they expect people (buyers particularly) to take the site seriously. It's a common fact that many people migrating from other popular sites of this type have gotten used to these kind of search/filtering tools and won't put up with them not working or not being implemented here - and I'll be one of them.

Are you sure you are doing it correctly?

Do a test and put in socks in the search field then enter.
Then click on the 'more search options' link next to the big blue Search? button
Then click on the drop down menu next to the 'Located in:' and choose UK then click on Search?

    Easy.

Are you sure you've actually read the thread through and understood yourself what I'm trying to do?

I've stated quite clearly I do not want to use the search facility, I want to browse the auction listing category and filter out any auctions that are not UK based. To use the search facility, you have to know what you're looking for - I don't know what I'm looking for, I want to browse.

Thank you for your input/reply, but it doesn't really answer what I'm trying to do.

Yes I did read it thoroughly and understood what your aim is (going by your question)

No you didn't state that at all.

I do believe I responded to your question correctly.
