Ebid in the USA

over the last month or so, I've noticed a lot of new users on the forums from the USA. I think this is great and key to ebid's success in the future.

Thought i would start this thread so us in the US can help each other out with hints and tips. The biggest piece of advice i would give sellers in the US is to make your items available worldwide, especially the UK, the UK is where the most ebid users are at the moment, so shipping to the UK will be key for your sales.

I haven't kept records but would guess over 1/2 of my sales have been to UK so limiting sales to your own country really limits sales. Just goes to prove "we need each other"!

I agree it is encouraging - especially given that only a very tiny fraction use the forums and even fewer still post here.

My words would be:

Think about keywords, then think about more keywords - after that do research on keywords - when you sleep dream about them.
Remember that every listing is an advert, not only for yourself as a seller but also for the site.
Make sure you are doing the right things to make your listings appear on google.
Ebid gives you the platform to build up a substantial client base - use it.

I am seeing quite a few that are SELLER status rather than SELLER + Lifetime. Remember that with SELLER + Lifetime you can have 5 shops and your items can be uploaded to Google. Times are tough all over the world but $50 can be spent easily on one night out - here it gets you a lifetime of free listing - as many listings as you want, your very own shops with great exposure and identity as a seller.

The eBid US market has massive potential - to sum up in one word, OPPORTUNITY - use it and put the effort in - better to be pioneer than a follower and the pioneer gaps are wide enough to drive a juggernaut through.

Me too, I especially love when I send items to places I have travelled too. My favourite example, I lived in Lilyfield, A suburb of Sydney, Australia for 2 years. 3 Months after leaving, I sent an item there. Good memories.

Yes obviously the USA is where most of ebids growth is going to come from.

I think that about half the members we see joining ebid are from the USA (according to the forum threads on new members).

If I was ebid I would set a goal of getting it to rise to 80% from the USA and 20% from the UK. That would suit the population figures better.

And as Deanosaur says a Seller+ Lifetime membership is a good investment for any serious long term seller.
