I worked for a company that did payroll for many restaurants and the wages management pays is very pitiful. I suspect if they had to pay even minimum wage for all the staff non of us could afford to eat out. At that time minimum wage was $3.50/hour, restaurants are allowed to estimate tips as part of that so $2.00/hour was typical wage for servers. Most of the servers who had been doing it for a long time didn't even cash their checks, just lived on tips.

I think waitress or waiters deserves to be tipped because they make like 2 something an hours and they rely on tips, but some people might tips others if they want to just to be kind or show gratatude

When do i tip..
When i go out to eat 20% of the full bill....
hotels say im going to stay for 3 days i will leave
a $5 tip on the table for the person that clean.
I know people get paid to do there jobs.
Its called respect..
Serive me and clean the room and make bed.
When you go to the same places and have the same person
serive you things are better for both partys.

I know this, but when you go a country where tipping is not expected, and you don't leave a tip. Is that being disrespectful? No.

There are a lot of European countries (including the UK) where many restaurants state on their menu cards that gratuities are included in the price.

Now that's nice, saves the trouble of figuring up for those of us who stink at figures. Of course the pizza guy loves me as I always overtip, he doesn't know it's cause I wouldn't want his job for a million bucks.
