For Eight Years, the Monthly Auctions Have Raised Thousands of Dollars For Selected Charities*
Miami, FL - August 31, 2012 - Prominent online auction site eBid (www.ebid.net) has become known for its strong community of faithful sellers. It hosts over 6 million live auctions, yet the company has earned a reputation for its personal, "hometown" customer service efforts - where all questions are immediately answered by an actual human! Perhaps most reflective of the "eBid Village" is a particularly bright spot in the community: the YDC (Your Donation Counts) monthly charity auction in which philanthropic sellers donate goods with all proceeds going to a selected charitable cause. The YDC auction is currently celebrating its 100th round of listings (http://us.ebid.net/buy/charity-aucti...onation-counts).
Mark Wilkinson, co-founder of eBid said, "YDC has been doing tremendous work and we're proud to have them as a cornerstone of the eBid community. This 100th auction round is a great milestone and it typifies the sense of partnership that our members feel with eBid."
The YDC auctions run from the 24th to the 28th of each month. Charities are determined among the YDC members and have recently included ACS Community Lift (which helps families displaced by the recent Colorado wildfires) and the American Cancer Society.
Yvonne Reed (known as "Vonz" online) has overseen the auction for years. She comments, "Over the years, we have supported dozens of fantastic charities & good causes, raising thousands of pounds, dollars and euros along the way. There are some seriously fierce bidding wars though, YDC is not for the faint hearted - especially if chocolate is involved! It's great fun, and means that everyone can be a mini-philanthropist in their own way."
Independent metrics have placed eBid firmly in second-place competition with eBay for person-to-person online listings in the USA, UK and dozens of other countries. Competitive features like zero insertion fees, low final cost fees, a "Make An Offer" button and "Multiple Item Checkout" as well as a generous affiliate program and territorial expansion this year into Malaysia and Brazil (to a total of 23 territories, across more than 100 countries and five continents) have all combined to propel eBid into this top bracket. Transactions on eBid may be completed using multiple, secure payment systems, either PPPay.com, Google Wallet, PayPal, and eBid has recently added Skrill (Moneybookers) for a full range of options. eBid also offers the option of upgrading to "Seller+" status where a $49.49 payment gives the seller a lifetime of zero insertion fees and zero final value fees.
With eBid's affiliate program, participants who add banners/links to their website, emails or Facebook pages can earn up to $104.99 for a single referral! Affiliates are rewarded for not only sign-ups to the basic eBid "Buyer" account status but also when the referral makes a free upgrade to "Seller" status and, most impressive of all, affiliates are rewarded with 50% of any upgrade fees when their referrals upgraded to "Seller+" status. eBid's "Seller+" status is a great advantage for higher volume merchants. A one-time fee of $49.49 gives the seller a lifetime of zero listing
fees and zero final value fees. Merchants may also opt for a short-term subscription upgrade to zero fees ($1.99 for 7 Days / $6.99 for 30 Days / $16.99 for 90 Days).
