Default Keywords??? help from some techie people please

    Morning all
Right I sort of know what keywords are but is there some kind of formula to getting the best keywords for your store? or (he said with the fear of getting a massive list) can anyone sugest what they think would be the best key words for a comic book store?

The best way is to use analytical tools that will show you what search was used by your customers to find you. But to start with think if you wanted the item, what search term would you use? In all probability others would use similar. You can also look at other successful sellers in comics, are there any in the Hot Sellers section? If they are selling well then their will be a reason and it may be keywords, if not what is it, price, type of item, learn from success.

Google do have some tools, and I am sure somebody will be along to tell you which are best. But if you just take a look at his titles you should get some ideas.

    His first listing is:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 9 (2011) #8 "Apart (Of Me) Part One" Variant

It is reasonably clear from the title exactly what is being sold, so anybody Googling "Buffy Season 9", "Buffy Vampire Slayer", "Buffy Apart Of Me" or just "Buffy" it will appear somewhere in their hits, and when it does they know what it might interest them enough to take a look. From there they might look at other items by the same seller. By the way there is a bid on this listing so somebody has seen it.

It is simply a case of using the available letters to convey as much information as you can, on the above item the only piece I can see missing is the word "Comic".

The other thing is that the Item Specifics are complete, there is an MPN (Manufacturer Product Number) and a Brand, though interestingly this listing would not be uploaded to Google Shopping as there is no Buy It Now price, so it may be that it has been found in a general Google search.

I'm no SEO expert, but it is my understanding that major search engines pay no/scant attention to keywords in a meta tag nowadays - due to the abuse of them by people in the past; they go more on actual site/page content found as they crawl sites.

Looking at the top hits for a Google search on 'comic book store', the first returned has a keyword string of:

"Comic Book Store, Comic Books, Graphic Novels, The Comic Book Store, Comic Book Shop"

The second returned has no keyword meta tag at all.

I'm finding (For my Pyrex store) That I cant find anything (of mine) for the 1st 20 pages on an ordinary google search for 'vintage pyrex'

However on google shopping I get my first entry on page two.

If I refine my search (to look for a particular pattern) to 'pyrex matchmaker'

Then my listings (of all patterns) dominate the first few pages.

This I believe is because I have as many patterns as possible listed in my categories section of my descriptions.

So if someone is looking for a particular pattern of pyrex and I have the pattern listed (but not necessarily holding any stock) then potential buyers will be directed to my store.

I must say I have had some good sales coming through google shopping

Right okay have had a look at my titles they seam okay given comic brand, character/tittle , issue number, date in most if not all even says comic or comics in most so thay should be okay apart from the in no info about condition which i am torn wheater to put this in or not? The thing is most comic book which date before the early 1990's don't have bar codes or MPN so that can't always be filled in but that would be the same for everyone so not that much of a problem.
now the thing is with the keyword boxes on my edit store page what should i use them for? should i fill them in with key words for my store eg) comics, comic book ,hushs comic book world etc or do I fill them in with product names which would be things like comic brand names, charactor names etc?

Its not just keywords there are quite a few issues you need to sort out.

Firstly Run Until Sold - on all your comics, you have a completely static unmoving store. Change to 10 day listings - recurring 10 times. Ironically the items that you do not have Run Until Sold are not comics - I would put those items at Run Until Sold to keep them out of the way of your comics or put them in a different shop. As your store is static the first page of your shop is not changing - the first comics the buyer will find have spelling mistakes comcis.

The date of the comics - 10/6/97 (for example) - far better to have that as June 1997, the problems with / in titles has been well documented and should be avoided at all costs. I am also presuming that Megazine should be Magazine? You need better spacing in the titles so AD2000 is actually AD 2000 - Megazine#290 becomes Magazine 290.

    The listing title below:
    2000AD Comics prog#496 from 15/11/1986

I can see by the picture that the title of this comic is the Statues of Liberty (or Liberties, can't see the end bit). Statue of Liberty is the name of the comic so needs to be in the title. Without really looking this is how I would list it: 2000 AD Comic Statue of Liberty 496 November 1986 Nov 15 - covering both keywords November and Nov - Comic - Title of Comic - Series of Comic and issue no and date.

There are a few other things which I can't remember at the moment (just got in from work). Will have a bit more of a look later.

In addition to my earlier comments....

Google shopping is only getting just over 10% of your listings, aim for 100%. There are comic listings without the ISBN entered.
