Online Auction Site eBid Hits 6.5 Million Live Listings

Online auction site eBid has hit 6.5 million live listings, for a gross value of $5 billion in merchandise available for sale on the site. This represents a 23% growth rate over 10 months since the company hit the five-million listings milestone in November, 2011.

eBid founder Mark Wilkinson said, "Needless to say, we're extremely happy at reaching this point. I think the accelerated growth is due to a number of factors like our expansion into Brazil and Malaysia as well as our continued marketing efforts in the U.S." Founded in 1999 in the UK, eBid spans a total of 23 territories, covering more than 100 countries and five continents.

eBid also attributes its growth to its affiliate program that pays up to $104.99 for a single referral.

eBid offers zero insertion fees and offers users a choice of payment services including PPPay.com, Google Wallet, PayPal and Skrill (Moneybookers).

Yes that's the biggest loss on ebid listings I have ever seen in one day - 1 million !
    Hopefully they'll be back.
Or someone has had some really good sales!

The large drop in listings was expected and will continue to fall for a while but it should be looked at as really positive news for everyone, It means the inactive sellers items are finally getting closed, it should make buying here a lot better,

Good on you eBid, I salute you

Likely the news shot was generated a while before the date it was eventually published - and was based on figures before the RUS cull.

User's cannot 'have their cake and eat it' by getting eBid to remove dead listings and then complaining that the number of listings have dropped.

Beat me to it. Clearly great minds think alike (or maybe fools never differ?).

Lol - I never thought I would say a drop in eBid listings is FANTASTIC, but it is !
Everybody will have a much happier Christmas shopping experience and hopefully business will be on the up now that customers can see the listings from active sellers a lot better.

I agree, Having experienced two Dump-N-Run™ items myself, it really put me off buying here so it should make a huge difference to buyers confidence.

It's a great change to have before the Christmas/Holiday rush.
