Default Kindle fire HD- any help please

    hi Guys,
Been looking for a detailed instruction manual for the kindle Fire HD for my wife.

Have looked on the kindle/Amazon site where there are about 30 versions. All have very mixed feedback ranging from excellant to poor so
I don't know which to get. We are not prime members so can't borrow one to look at for free. A lot of them also say they are aimed at the
USA models and not much good for the UK.

Do any of you guys in the ebid community have any experience of the Fire HD and a good but basic instruction manual? I know part of the
fun is playing with it but t'wife wants something to look at and use.

Its a shame the kindle don't come with a manual.

    Many thanks in anticipation

    Cheers Alan

Hello Alan. I have a Kindle Fire, but not a Fire HD. I got it last December 2011. It came with only a card with a few short lines of instruction. What I've learned is mostly by trial and error, with a few visits to pertinent Amazon Kindle websites. It's a different operating system from Windows of course. I believe the browser is Amazon Sylk (sp?). I can store and read books including books with illustrations, watch movies through my Netflix account, retrieve my emails from several sources, listen to online radio stations, transfer music to and from a free Amazon cloud account, and probably do more things I'm not aware of. I do wish it had a USB port for a webcam or a microphone so I could Skype but it doesn't. Maybe a Kindle HD Fire does.

I will be happy to talk about Kindle Fires if that's any help. Hope your wife enjoys it. I find it a perfect size for carrying with me AND for using just before I fall asleep.

Thanks guys, I'll have a look at these. I thought there was a manual on the kindle but couldn't find it! Thanks for the detail deano.

Amazon and kindle manuals seem to have very mixed feedback, and some say they are no good for the UK, I'll try on the kindle then let you know.
    Many thanks again
    Cheers

My other half has just been given a Kindle Fire HD as an early birthday present BUT it's taking an age to charge up - it's been on charge now for over 24 hours - is this usual?

OH was using this phone charger! He's now got the Fast Charger from Amazon and it's working - phew

BUT why isn't the Fast Charger included with the Kindle? Can remember when we first started selling them at Tesco about 2-3 Christmas' ago and the number of angry customers in on Boxing Day or day after demanding chargers as they hadn't been able to do anything with their brand new Kindles.
