Thread: ? Does "MAKE AN OFFER" help sales?

I use on a few of my listings, it has worked for me on a couple of higher priced items that I had had for a good while. Though it will not work for the bulk of my lower priced items.

I use it on a few of mine and have just sold some stamps this weekend via MAO. You do occasionally get a silly offer which sometimes improves with haggling, but you can always say no.
Being able to offer a counter bid is useful.
Most of my stuff is cheaper than it would be elsewhere so a lot of sales go via BIN. I think people realize this and are happy with the BIN price.

I agree, some may not want the hassle of haggling but then at least they have the option. It adds to the interest, sometimes!

    Cheers Alan

Interesting thread. Haven't used MaO myself, as my items are priced as low as I can afford to sell them, but it's interesting to read what others think about it.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I use MaO on some of the items in my 'Ropegg' store but I cannot be too flexible in it.

I use MaO on most of the items in my other stores. In the 'And Other Stuff' and 'Peggy A's Jewels' I would probably accept almost any offer made as it is just things I have and don't want to throw away. I shipped a bowl out today that I sold on MAO listed $15 offered $4.99 and I was happy it was finding a new home.

I use MaO in my 'eBargins 4 U' and on most of it I can be pretty flexible.

I also use MaO in my 'Cups Cups Cups' charity store as I figure God knows what is needed from it for the mission fund so I am very flexible with it.

Though I use MaO I have only made the one sale with it but I really like the option. It opens the opportunity for them to 'easily' ask for multiples at a special price and if it is things I have nothing in I can go pretty low. On things that are listed for $2 or so they probably are interested in a lower price on one item anyway but they might like several items at a lower price.
    My stores:
    Ropegg
    Cups-Cups-Cups
    And Other Stuff
    Peggy A's Jewels

God Bless and have a great day!!!!

I sell comic books, and have sold 4 items on Ebid. Two of those sales came through MAO. I have listed some Silver Age comics and tried to list them under guide. With no takers after a few months, I thought I'd switch to the MAO. I'd say it helped a little because I was able finally able to sell two of them. I still have them on the others. Not sure if the lack of activity on them is the method sales, the price in general, or the lack of interest in the books themselves.

Great that you have made some use of MAO

You might also want to read this thread (link below) - all about comics - and there is plenty of good advice.

    http://www.ebid.net/forums/showthrea...-people-please

Lots of info on visibility - a comic with a buy it now price is much more visible than one on auction. Keyword Comic needs to be in the titles - new users will often stumble across eBid and if they are a comic book fan they will most probably type comic books or comic into the search box - those without the word comic in the title will not be found.
