I seen a hugh increase in views by linking to on line social media sites.

Just a thought to help increase traffic and lookers, perhaps they will become buyers.

A big percentage of what you are experiencing is mostly automated scraping bots following your links.

When they follow the link and reach your ebid listing they look just like a browser to ebids servers with the normal HTTP headers, ( ip, user agent etc) so cause a page hit/view.

The vast majority of these just slow down eBid and end up costing eBids bandwidth and resources .

Thanks Jimbo. I should have thought of that. If somethings not behaving like people then it's probably not people.

Thanks Jim, I was very suspicious of the increase of in views on items I pasted to my facebook page. You confirmed my thoughts that the views were not true views. It didnt make sense that none of the supposed people who came to my listings through Facebook would not look at related items or try to friend me.

So really this goes to suggest that telling people that ebid is different and that you have to promote on social media is not really correct.

I have always thought that the best way to get things to sell on ebid, is to get all ebid sellers to buy on ebid where they can, and to get ebid better known as a destination auction site and to get a lot more variety on ebid and more large sellers.

    Not quite.

I have had 4 items that have appeared on facebook in the past - I haven't got a clue who put them on facebook, it certainly wasn't me!

On those 4 the bot rate averaged at 24%. I can work the figures exactly because GA doesn't recognise bots so the view count minus my analytic count = the bots.

Whilst 24% is significant it is not massive.
