Bute was once used as an anti-inflammatory for humans,
it was toxic to some people & subsequently banned.
In rare cases it caused bone marrow disorders & the serious blood disorder aplastic anaemia,
There is also some debate about it causing cancer
Even using bute once on horse bans it from use for human consumption in the EU.

Likewise, we are importing milk, while our milk gets flown half way across the world to China, where they can't get enough of British dairy produce.
I usually cook my own foods.......to try and avoid high levels of salt, fat, and chemicals. As far as the British dairy..........I used to love the "pintas" (milk) that were delivered to our door in a little village outside of Oxford. We got 3 pintas a day......1 for my husband, 1 for me, and one for our dog. Loved the thick cream on top in coffee.

That is a worry. The issue is not about differences in taste/food preferences; but labeling violations, and danger to people's health, for the sake of profit.

We still have our milk delivered, burgyeb. It is more expensive than going to the supermarket but there it is, fresh, only three times a week, but without effort and through rain and snow (Our milkman did not miss a day when we had snow).

Can not remember how many times a week we received delivery, but it was always a treat. Loved those thick, old fashioned bottles; but did not want to return them. I also purchased all of our meat fresh, from the butcher 1/2 a block from our rented house.
