Why not just stick a label on the box,
May contain horsemeat.
I'd still carry on buying the food.
And out of curiosity, what's happening to all the removed food,
my freezer needs filling.

I would happily join you in stocking up the freezer with this food. But I have a feeling that there is a very full landfill site somewhere.

As the food doesn't contain what it says it contains, who knows that the horsemeat is fit for human consumption? (shop local.. cook for yourself!)

This is the worry. It has been confirmed that the horsemeat contains a drug which is harmful to humans. As the food doesn't contain what it says it contains, who knows that the horsemeat is fit for human consumption?
Sort of like the antibiotics we ingest every time we eat a chicken.
I know what you mean as there are certain drugs I can't have and the main one is no aspirin in any shape or form as its dangerous for me to have it, what if someone is not to have something that these horses have been given, it could kill someone.
I have a few items in my freezer that I am holding back on just incase.
if the horse has been injected with bute or (PZB) , then this is dangerous to Humans, and as it's a horse anti flammortory drug you can bet your bottom dollar that most have

Life is serious but taking it too seriously robs you of
happiness, fun and productivity
I'm with Madelaine on this one. Support your local butcher and BRITISH farmers and make your own.
It's ridiculous that many of our farmers are struggling while we are importing heavily subsidized meat from Europe, which may now turn out to be "unfit for human consumption".
Likewise, we are importing milk, while our milk gets flown half way across the world to China, where they can't get enough of British dairy produce.
I'm biassed and lucky when it comes to butchers - our local one owns a slaughterhouse too.
Once, because they tease terribly, I teased them by complaining about some steak I'd bought - "My son said it was too small" - Whole shop collapsed laughing, but what really impressed me was the butcher's first response "I've had no other complaints about that animal"!

Likewise, I am very lucky with my local butchers. Their lamb and beef actually comes from their own farm, which is 5 miles from here. Our local slaughterhouse burnt down about 10 years ago. They have to take their animals about 10 miles to the nearest one now, which is still very reasonable, if you consider foodmiles for so many imported foods.
I think teasing is something that's part of the butcher's trade - as is calling your customers "love" or "dear".
But even if you are not quite as lucky as we are, it is still worthwhile going to your local butcher. Once they get to know you, they will look after you.
Sneaks off to hide.
