Thread: Broadband recommendations

  1. #1

    Default Broadband recommendations

I've given my cancellation notice to virgin, last straw was trying to deal with the operative on the end of the phone.

Just want broadband only and am leaning to PlusNet, Just wondering if anyone with them any problems etc. Or what broadband packages only worth looking at. Thank you in advance for info.

I'm with Plusnet - broadband only. No major problems. Any minor problems solved rapidly by phoning them (via an 0800 free call).
If you want unlimited broadband they don't do it. I'm on their maximum allowance of bandwidth. The only time I ran close to the limit was after three weeks watching live streaming from the Giro d'Italia. Might run into similar problems this month with the live streaming of the Tour de France.

Seriously, I'm quite happy with them.

    Sky.

Totally unlimited, never lost connection at current address, and only lost it twice at previous address in 10 years

    Never gets slowed down

Plus if you go through a cashback site *for most isps, then you can get lots back.

The one I was originally looking at finished, but they have this one:
A perfect package for large families, downloaders and gamers.

    • 12 months half price
    • Up to 16Mb broadband speeds
    • Unlimited Monthly Usage
    • FREE Weekend calls to UK landlines

    From £9.99
    £4.99 a month for 12 months
    from £10.99 line rental

Don't really understand the tech side, but as long as I can access the internet constantly and quickly (be happy) don't download much only a few updates a month.

I changed to Talktalk a couple of months ago after problems with BT ( too lazy to type it all! ). Apart from being about 2/3rds cheaper every month, I can now watch Iplayer without constant breaks due to insufficient bandwidth.

I am with Virgin and have been for a good many years, never really had a problem with them.

The only gripe I have is since they moved the call centre to India, the numptys did not even know how to send a modem reset signal, they had to ring back to England to find out.
